Good to know…

Reservations

  • I don’t speak Japanese. Can I make reservation in English?
    Sure. We are available in English and Japanese, but not available for other languages.
  • Nobody speaks Japanese or English in my group. Can I stay in Yokoo Sanso?
    Ideally not. Although many people travel easily with translate apps in these days, the usage of phones is very limited in mountains. For your safety, we strongly recommend having someone who speak Japanese or English in your party. For example, if you were in an emergency, it would be so difficult to ask for help without speaking Japanese or English. Please think about coming with mountain guides or experts who speak Japanese.
  • What do I need to do in case my plan changed?
    If your date or a group size were changed, the information must be informed by 8pm the previous day. Otherwise, the cancellation charge (¥5,000- per person) will be subjected.
  • The day I planned is fully booked. Is there any waiting lists?
    No. Unfortunately, we don’t have any wish lists.
  • Can I stay without reservations?
    Reservations are required for any operational days.
  • What time is check-in and check-out?
    Check-in is after 2pm.
    Check-out is 9am.
  • What information do I need to make reservation calls?
    Please make sure a number of your group, estimated time of arrival, and your hiking route (trip schedule).

Staying

  • Can I pay with credit cards?
    For accommodation fee, we accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, or Diners Club) but ONLY CASH for shop or others.
  • Can I charge my phone in the lodge?
    Yes. You can charge your mobile, batteries for cameras, or similar items. Please bring a charger.
  • Can I use hair dryers after taking a bath?
    No. Since generator’s capacity has limits, there are no hair dryers in our lodge.
  • Do I need to bring a towel for a bath?
    We provide a towel with our logo (face-towel sized) for each guest. If you prefer any bigger size, please prepare by yourself. No bath towels in our bath.
  • Can I cook my meals?
    No stoves or fire allowed in our lodge. If you need cook, we ask to do outside.
  • Do I need to decide my meal plan when I make reservations?
    Ideally yes. You can also confirm your meal plan upon check-in.
  • Do you take our garbage?
    No. There are no trash bins in our lodge. Please take all your garbage home with you.
  • Can I smoke in the lodge?
    No. Our lodge is completely non-smoking.
  • What time is lights out?
    Lights out is 9pm.
  • Can I request any special meals? I have dietary restrictions.
    Unfortunately not. We can’t accommodate any requests for meals. Please bring your own food.
  • Can you keep my backpack for a day?
    Yes. We can hold your bags during you hike higher before your check-in and after your check-out. Free of charge for lodge staying guests only.

Camping

  • Can I take a bath with a charge?
    No. A bath in the lodge is only for lodge staying guests.
  • Can I have dinner or breakfast in the lodge?
    No. Our cafeteria opens only for lunch.
  • Can I find groceries in a shop?
    No. In the shop, only snakes, beverages, and drinks are available.
  • Do you take our garbage?
    No. There are no trash bins. Please take all your garbage home with you.

Others

  • Can I use my phone in Yokoo area?
    Cell phone coverage and public free Wi-Fi access are provided. Please be informed that the internet connection is not sustainable in mountains so you may find it doesn’t work properly sometimes.
